LeBron James just added another milestone to his legendary career—this time, in the toy aisle. Mattel has announced the launch of a LeBron James Barbie doll, making him the first figure in the brand’s new "Kenbassador" series, a campaign aimed at celebrating men who inspire and uplift their communities.
The collaboration between Barbie, the Los Angeles Lakers star, and the LeBron James Family Foundation honors James not just for his achievements on the basketball court, but for his work off of it. According to Mattel, the Kenbassador series is dedicated to recognizing role models who help build a better world, and James was the clear choice to lead the initiative.
“As a young kid, I was fortunate to have role models who not only inspired me but also showed me what’s possible through hard work and dedication,” James said in a statement. “Partnering with Barbie is an opportunity to recognize the powerful impact of role models who instill confidence, inspire dreams, and show kids that they, too, can achieve greatness.”
The LeBron doll is a carefully crafted tribute to James, complete with signature details and personal touches. It stands slightly taller than the average Ken doll and features an outfit curated with James’s input. He’s dressed in a custom varsity jacket with the initials “LJ,” a crown patch, an Ohio state patch, and the number 23. The back reads “LeBron” above the phrase “Just a kid from Akron.” He also wears a shirt that reads “We Are Family,” a nod to his foundation.
In true LeBron fashion, the doll includes several of his brand staples: Nike Dunk Hi Retro sneakers, Beats headphones, a signature watch, and an “I Promise” wristband honoring his I Promise School. Rounding out the look are stylish sunglasses and a fanny pack.
As part of the launch, Mattel will donate a copy of James’s children’s book I Am More Than to Save the Children for the first 5,000 dolls sold at Target—either in-store or online—between April 14 and April 19. The cause is close to James’s heart and aligns with his commitment to youth empowerment.
The LeBron James Kenbassador doll will officially hit shelves on Monday, April 14 for $75. It will be available through Target, Amazon, Walmart, and Mattel Creations.
With this latest collaboration, LeBron James continues to redefine what it means to be a global icon—now as a role model molded in plastic, inspiring the next generation from inside a Barbie box.
