Alex Vega, a prominent South Florida car designer known for working with celebrities like Usain Bolt and Rick Ross, has found justice years after surviving a murder-for-hire attempt outside his Kendale Lakes home in 2019. The attack was carried out by gunman Julian Jimenez and getaway driver Jaime Serrano, both from New York. Jimenez, who fired on Vega as he returned home, received a 35-year federal sentence, and Serrano was also convicted.
The plot was ultimately traced back to figures in the auto repair industry amid suspected business-related tensions. In 2024, two more individuals—Rolando “Roly” Ramirez and Rasheed “Fresh” Ali—were arrested and charged with orchestrating the scheme. On May 21, 2025, a jury found all three men guilty on all counts.
Although the legal case has progressed, Vega and his family continue to grapple with the emotional aftermath. They remain in therapy and cautious, still unsure why Vega was targeted.
