An employee at Dolphin Mall is facing serious charges after allegedly planting a hidden camera inside a restroom at a cosmetics store where he worked. The suspect, identified as 43-year-old Bernardo Pellicer, is accused of using a pen-shaped recording device to secretly film coworkers without their consent.
According to police reports, the device was strategically placed in a women’s restroom in a position that could capture employees during private moments. The situation unraveled when one employee noticed the pen while using the toilet and became suspicious of its placement. Upon inspecting it more closely, she realized it contained a lens and appeared to be recording. She confronted Pellicer, who allegedly tried to retrieve the device and made unwanted physical contact with her in the process.
Pellicer was taken into custody shortly after and charged with video voyeurism and battery. Officers say the camera had been carefully disguised and placed in a location that would not immediately raise suspicion. The footage on the device is being reviewed by investigators to determine if other individuals were recorded and if there may be additional victims.
The incident has raised concerns among shoppers and workers at the busy Miami-Dade shopping center, prompting a wider investigation into whether Pellicer may have used similar tactics in the past. Authorities have not disclosed how long the camera had been active, nor have they ruled out the possibility of more charges being filed depending on the results of the forensic analysis.
The case has sparked conversations around workplace safety and surveillance in shared spaces, especially restrooms, where privacy is legally protected. Law enforcement is urging anyone who may have concerns or additional information related to this case to come forward.
Dolphin Mall management has not released a public statement but confirmed that the individual is no longer employed at the store.
