A Miami-Dade man is facing serious charges after allegedly using a fraudulent credit scheme to acquire 10 vehicles in just one month. Authorities say 56-year-old Omar Guardia was arrested this week and charged with organized fraud, grand theft, unlawful vehicle subleasing, and obtaining property through false statements.
According to investigators, Guardia submitted a credit application at Bomnin Chevrolet in March to purchase a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado. When the truck was later reported stolen, the dealership uncovered that Guardia had as many as 17 vehicles in his name — including 10 acquired in March alone.
Authorities say this is part of a broader “credit bust out” scheme, where individuals use fraudulent information to obtain high-value items before defaulting. In Guardia’s case, records show he had nearly 20 vehicles under his name, ranging from Hondas and Toyotas to luxury brands like Mercedes and BMW. The total estimated losses exceed $500,000.
During a court appearance, prosecutors revealed that Guardia has a prior federal conviction for marijuana trafficking. His bond was set at $111,000, and he has been ordered to stay away from all vehicle dealerships pending further legal action.
