A 23-year-old woman from Las Vegas is facing multiple felony charges in Miami after allegedly drugging a man she had just met and stealing his $18,000 Rolex watch following a night out in the Brickell neighborhood. According to the Miami Police Department, the victim met the woman—identified as Rachel Marie Warner—at the East Hotel’s Sugar rooftop bar on Wednesday evening. Surveillance footage reportedly shows the two leaving the bar together and heading to the man’s hotel room around 11:27 p.m.
The man told police that after having drinks with Warner, he began to feel disoriented and eventually blacked out. When he regained consciousness hours later, he noticed that his Rolex was missing, and his phone was locked and inaccessible. Police say Warner had already left the room, and footage shows her exiting the hotel alone at approximately 3:27 a.m.
Warner was arrested on Thursday during an undercover operation and charged with burglary with assault or battery, grand theft, and possession of a controlled substance. During her arrest, detectives found two dropper bottles containing an unknown liquid in her purse, which have been sent for lab testing. Based on training and prior experience, officers believe the substance may have been used to incapacitate the victim.
Investigators say the crime fits a pattern seen in Miami involving women targeting men wearing expensive watches, slipping them drugs, and robbing them while they are unconscious. Warner was also identified in part by a distinctive tattoo seen in surveillance video.
The investigation is ongoing.
