At least eight international students at the University of Miami have reportedly had their F-1 student visas revoked, according to the campus newspaper The Miami Hurricane. The revocations are part of a broader federal push that has affected more than 47 Florida college students and recent graduates from institutions including FIU, UF, and Stetson.
The U.S. State Department has not provided public explanations for most of the terminations, and UM has not confirmed how many of its students were impacted. The policy shift comes amid a national uptick in visa revocations linked to both immigration enforcement and scrutiny of pro-Palestinian student activism.
When a student’s F-1 status is revoked or terminated, their legal presence in the U.S. becomes void, and they become subject to immediate deportation.
