BOCA RATON, Fla. — April 12, 2025 — A small aircraft crashed near a major intersection in Boca Raton Friday morning, killing at least three people, according to initial reports. The crash occurred around 10:20 a.m. near Military Trail and Glades Road, close to Boca Raton Airport.
The aircraft involved was a Cessna 310, which had just taken off and was en route to Tallahassee. Shortly after departure, it went down near the railroad tracks, striking a vehicle before erupting into flames.
The impact pushed the vehicle onto the tracks, and images from the scene showed smoke rising from the wreckage as emergency responders worked to secure the area. Authorities have not officially confirmed the number of fatalities, but at least three people on board are presumed dead.
The crash has disrupted traffic and public transit, with Boca Raton police urging drivers to avoid the area. Tri-Rail suspended service between Deerfield Beach and Boca Raton, instead offering a temporary bus bridge while delays are expected throughout the corridor.
Officials are still investigating the cause of the crash and working to identify those on board.
